Shielo is a product brand that creates both hair and skin care products. I was somewhat familiar with Shielo before getting to review this scrub but only knew of their hair products. I had no clue that they had skin care and with me being an Esthetician, I was pretty excited to get this product.
Why Do We Exfoliate?
A question that I often get is “Why do we have to exfoliate?” Our skin naturally produces new skin cells which go through their own life cycle of about 28 days, before dying and shedding off the surface of our skin. The horrible part is as we age, this process gets slower and slower (just like everything else, right?). A lot of the time, we get a build up of these dead cells which, then, clog our pores causing breakouts or cause a scaly look. Exfoliating gets rid of the dead cells and makes room for the new radiant cells to shine through.
About Shielo Anti Aging Smoothing Complexion Scrub
Shielo Anti Aging Smoothing Complexion Scrub uses small jojoba micro-spheres to gently remove dead skin cells. The microspheres are what you physically feel working as you work the scrub into the skin. This Shielo product also contains soothing ingredients such as Aloe Vera Juice and Allantoin. While removing the dead cells and soothing the skin, this scrub also helps to stimulate new cell growth so the skin appears younger and more radiant.
My Experience
When I first got this product, I already had an idea in mind of what it would feel like. I thought like many other scrubs I have tried, I would only feel a small amount of the micro-spheres and it would feel more like a cleanser than a scrub. Other times, it can be the opposite where the scrub feels like you are washing with sand (not healthy for your skin!). But, to my surprise and satisfaction, this scrub was mild enough to not scratch up the surface of my skin – which can cause dehydration – while effective enough to leave my skin feeling smooth and refreshed.
Another thing I noticed and highly appreciate about this product is there was no fragrance. One thing that I really dont like in my facial products is a strong smell. Fragrance irritates my skin at times and gives me headaches if it is too strong. This product was perfectly mild!
This is a scrub that I would recommend to anyone who likes soft, smooth, and glowing skin!
